Before deactivating your Shopify store, ensure you've downloaded all important business data and completed any pending transactions.
Temporary Store Deactivation
- Log in to your Shopify admin panel.
- Go to Settings > Plan and permissions.
- Scroll to "Store status" section.
- Click "Deactivate store".
- Select your reason for deactivation.
- Confirm by clicking "Deactivate store" again.
Your store will be temporarily disabled and visitors will see a password page.
Permanent Store Closure
- Log in to your Shopify admin panel.
- Navigate to Settings > Plan and permissions.
- Scroll to "Close store" section.
- Click "Close store".
- Select closure reason from dropdown.
- Enter "CLOSE" to confirm.
- Click "Close store" button.
Important: Permanent closure cancels your subscription and removes store data. This action cannot be undone.
After Deactivation
- Your store URL remains reserved for 30 days.
- Billing stops after current billing cycle.
- You can reactivate your store within 30 days by logging in.
- Customer data remains secure during deactivation.
